02/28/2004:
I finished my second online course, and I’m about halfway through my third. It’s a lot of work, but I’m learning a lot, which is the point. I also got sick Tuesday evening and ended up staying home from work on Wednesday. I think I may have had mild food poisoning. I don’t know. Maybe I was just stressed out and needed a day off of work. Now because I’ve been procrastinating, I’ve got to cram four classroom observations into the two weeks remaining before spring break. I’ve already got one lined up for Tuesday at a high school, and I’m in the process of setting one up at an elementary school. The other two can be at my own school, so I’m not worried about those. I’ve already got an open invitation from one of the teachers I want to observe. I’m still a little stressed about it, but I’m trying not to let it bother me. I’ve also got to write a paper for the course I’m taking right now, which I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t have to write one for the other two. The directions are really vague. I don’t want to waste my time doing too much, but I also don’t want to do too little, since everyone in my class may read it if they want.
02/19/2004:
Last week was awful at work. Everyday someone on my team was out sick, so I had to pick up the slack. On Tuesday, two people were sick, so I got stuck doing everything. I didn’t think I’d make it through the day. I also had to worry about finishing up my first online course for my teacher certification program. Everything worked out in the end.
This week hasn’t been so bad, but my second online course is a pain, because all the material in online, so I have to sit in front of the computer for a few hours every night when I get home from work. But it's not like I’m starving, though.
02/03/2004:
One of my students had a temper-tantrum and I got scratched up in the process. Other than that, my day went well. I’ve managed to get ahead on my homework, so I’ve got no complaints.
Also, I finally got all the issues of Yummy Fur by Chester Brown, so I finally got to read the original incarnation of Ed the Happy Clown, and I loved it. I don’t know why Chester changed it when he collected it into a book. I still haven’t read the new ending he added in the third edition of the book, though, so who knows?
01/31/2004:
I’ve mainly been going to work and then coming home to work on my coursework. I did manage to watch two bad movies, Funny Farm and Meatballs, and one great one, Spellbound (the documentary, not the Hitchcock film).
01/21/2004:
Man, I’ve got a lot work to do for my class, but I’ve managed to say on top of things, and I’m even a few days ahead of schedule.
01/19/2004:
Well, I managed to use my three-day weekend to get a little ahead in my Intro to Special Education class. I also had band practice yesterday, and it went well. We’re starting to rock pretty hard. Also Somer rented Frida, and we watched it. The actual telling of the story was a little clumsy at times, but visually the movie was really amazing.
01/17/2004:
I’ve started the Region XIII Educator Certification Program this week. I had class from 6 to 9 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, but from now until March 23 all my classes will be online. I’m very excited about the program and the classes. I’m finally on the way to my teaching career. Unfortunately this means that I’ll have a lot less free time to mess around with this website.
Other great news: Somer and I finally saw Lost in Translation today, and it was great. It was funnier than I had expected, but also very low-key when it needed to be. I can’t wait to see what Sofia Coppola does next.
Now I need to go study!
01/08/2004:
It’s been nice getting back into the swing of things at work. I missed the kids during the break.
01/05/2004:
I got a flat tire last night right before I went to band practice. Luckily I noticed the flat when I was still in my driveway, so I just moved all the equipment to Somer’s car and was only ten minutes late. After practice I had to change the flat, which I did without incident. This morning I got up super early and took my tire to an auto shop and had it fixed. It took awhile, so I ended up being 40 minutes late to work, but it was a staff development day, and no one noticed.
Anyway, I’ve barely slept the past two days, so I think I’m going to go to bed right now and pass out.
01/01/2004:
I took it easy the first day of 2004. I think I’m finally over my cold/flu, so I guess I should try to be a little more productive for the last three days of my winter break.
