06/30/2003:
Earlier today when I went out to check the mail, I noticed a dog walking over to me. I scanned my surroundings to locate its owner, but I didn’t see anyone. This made me nervous. It came right up to me, and I noticed that parts of its fur was shaved (or maybe chewed) off, and the exposed skin had a bunch of sores on it. That got me scared, ‘cause I figured that the dog must be a stray and could have rabies or something. I started walking slowly over to my front door, but the dog was following me. I managed to get to my doorstep, but the dog was right there next to me, and I was pretty sure that if I opened the door it would go into the house, so I ended up grabbing one of Somer’s dead plants, and I threw it, and the dog actually walked after it, and I slipped into the house.

06/26/2003:
I didn’t get the job I interviewed for the other day. Today I applied to be a furniture mover. That could be fun. It could also suck, though, since it’s so hot in Texas.

06/23/2003:
I did a bunch of domestic work today. I spent over an hour ironing clothes! Somer did come home from work and made me nachos, so I can’t complain. It’s not like I’m working. Of course, I don’t have to work all the time, ‘cause I’m so careful with my money, so it’s not like I’m mooching off someone else. This all won’t matter by tomorrow anyway, since I have a job interview (and, no, I don’t want to write about it).

06/17/2003:
I had a lot of fun up in the Metroplex. On Saturday I went out on Somer’s mom’s boat. Shanie was with us, and I had a lot of fun swimming in the lake with her and horsing around. Later that night, Somer and I babysat Savannah, and she had a fever and was really unhappy and cried all night…and yet she was still cute as a button.
On Sunday, I got to hang out with my dad, Kathy, her mom and my brother for Father’s Day. We mainly hung out at the house and talked, but later in the evening my brother and I walked over to our cousins’ house and hung out with them for a little while. When we got back to the house, I showed my dad and Kathy how to set up a webpage.
On Monday we had lunch with Somer’s mom and then headed back to Austin, so Somer could go to her evening class. Around 5 or 6 o’clock my brother called me to tell me his car broke down near Waco, and I ended up driving back up there to pick him up and take him back to Austin, so he could stay at my place overnight (in our still sweltering house) while his car was being fixed. I know it sucked for him, but I was kind of happy to spend some extra time with him.
So today I drove him back to Waco, so he could get his car, and while we were there he treated me to a lunch at an Italian restaurant, which was excellent. I drove back to Austin jamming to the Pontiac Brothers and an old Taciturn rehearsal tape. When I got back to the house the AC repairmen showed up and fixed the AC. I guess I had what could be called an adventure.

06/15/2003:
I'm showing Kathy how to set up a webpage.

06/13/2003:
The AC still isn’t working, so I’m glad I’m visiting my dad this weekend, ‘cause I don’t think I could take another night of sleeping in an oven.

06/12/2003:
Our AC stopped working last night. It’s not too bad in the living room downstairs, but the upstairs bedroom (the one Somer and I sleep in) is sweltering. Apparently this is a problem all over Austin, so it may not get fixed until tomorrow.
On the brighter side of life, I picked up some new-ish James Kochalka books, and they kick ass. He’s so awesome that I hate him!

06/11/2003:
After putting it off for over a year, I finally bought a replacement plug for my scanner only to discover that my scanner no longer works. I’m still messing with it, but I doubt it’s salvageable. It’s got me kind of depressed, ‘cause there are a ton of pictures I want to scan and put on this website. On the other hand, it’s just a material possession that can be replaced if necessary.

06/06/2003:
I’ve been enjoying my time off. I’ve watched a lot of movies and done some reading. Gotten a little exercise. But mainly I’ve just been relaxing and contemplating the world.

06/03/2003:
School is out, so I've been sleeping in late. Today I rented some Luis Buñuel movies, so I think I'll stay up late watching some of 'em.
