03/31/2003:
Andy and his girlfriend came down from the Metroplex on Saturday to visit and make some noise. We had two Quetalby sessions. I haven’t listened to the tape, yet, so I’m not sure if it was any good, but it was a lot of fun. It had been almost a year, since we had a session.
Today I went to the Southwest Texas State University campus in order to attend an information session at the College of Education. I may be able to start taking classes this summer, but I won’t get my certification plan for another week or two, so I’m not sure how many hours I’ll have to take.
Somer’s dad gave her money to buy a new printer for our computer, so after she got off work we headed over to Best Buy to pick one out. On our way in, we passed none other than THE Alex Jones. I was tempted to make fun of him for supporting a Luciferian, New-World-Order fueling machine like Best Buy, but I managed to bite my tongue. Anyway, Somer bought the printer, and I hooked it up, so all is well in the world or at least in my world.

My new car is working out quite well. I drove it to my mom’s place in San Antonio over the weekend, and it handled really well and got awesome gas mileage. I don’t feel so weird about spending so much money on it. I actually enjoy driving it; it’s so maneuverable!
03/19/2003:
I bought a 1996 Toyota Corolla today. I have mixed feelings about it. I'm happy to have a reliable car, but I also feel weird about spending so much money on one thing. It was cheap as cars go, but it was a lot of money to miserly, ol' me.
I’ve also decided to donate my old car to the American Lung Association, so hopefully that will off-set some of my white, middle-class, male guilt.
Oh yeah, happy war-on-Iraq day; I’m looking forward to hearing all about the collateral damage and friendly fire. By the way, I’m being sarcastic.
03/17/2003:
Somer’s sister had a baby girl today. Somer went up to the Metroplex, so she could be in the delivery room. She’s pretty excited about her new niece.
Meanwhile, I subbed for a social studies class. I had a student who in the past has been very open about her hatred for me. I tried being really laid-back with her, and I think it worked, ‘cause she didn’t cuss me out. She wasn’t perfect, but it was a definite improvement. That made me feel good.
03/15/2003:
Happy Birthday Somer!
03/14/2003:
Well, my Spring Break is technically over. Where did all the days go? I had planned to read Moby-Dick, but I don’t think I read a single page of it all week.
03/09/2003:
I’ve started reading The Dictionary of Cultural Literacy again. I’m annoyed by how much history I’m unaware of. At the same time, I’m often surprised by how much stuff I do know.
03/08/2003:
I got my rejection letter from the Region XIII Alternative Teacher Certification Program, so I’ve got to figure out a different way to get my certification or wait another year and apply again. I plan to do the former. Unfortunately, it may mean that I’ll have to stop substitute teaching and get a graveyard-shift job, so I can take classes during the day.
03/06/2003:
Last night I hung out with one of my old college roommates, Josh. We just shot the shit for awhile at my place. There was a lot of nostalgia going on, which is a good thing, I think.
03/01/2003:
I don’t think I accomplished a single thing today. I did eat some meals. I guess that’s something. I paid some bills. Watched some TV. Did some research. Talked to Somer. Ok, I did accomplish a few things.
