12/24/2004:
I have not excuse for not updating my journal more recently, since I’ve been on vacation for almost a week. Well, I made it through my first semester as a middle school functional life skills teacher. Overall I’d say I did a pretty good job, especially considering this is my first year, although it is nice to know that I will get better.
A week ago my dad came to visit me in Austin. We had a lot of fun eating out, watching movies and walking around Austin’s parks. Then I spent most of this past week sleeping in, playing on the computer, reading, studying, watching movies and TV and organizing my apartment. Soon I’ll be at my mom’s celebrating the holidays.
12/05/2004:
My band recorded the basic tracks to our first demo. We managed to set up and record six songs in about four hours. Joe’s friend Eric recorded us on his 8-track and he’s going to upload it to his computer and we’ll record our vocals and add some overdubs and fix a few flubs here and there. It sounded so good that we’re thinking about releasing it as an EP. Unfortunately it’s probably going to be a week or two before we can do the overdubs. Oh well...
11/21/2004:
Man, it was a long week. Every day was a mad rush to finish prep work for Friday’s Thanksgiving lunch. We did manage to get everything done and the lunch went well. The student’s families and the staff enjoyed the chow and atmosphere. We also got compliments from all the administrators (which is always nice).
I spent much of the weekend watching movies, constructing this website and playing Kingdom of Loathing. Will I get to bed on time tonight?
11/15/2004:
I got my paperwork done last night (late last night) and I made it through the meeting today. Then later in the evening I went to a get together for my friend Anne's birthday, so once again I've stayed up too late.

Well, here’s the new address for my website. I set this up in order to avoided doing some work, so I hope you enjoy it because tomorrow is going to suck because I wasted my time doing this instead of getting paperwork done. I’m such an idiot!

Yesterday Xander and I practiced our acoustic-duo set, and it sounds pretty good. Then today we had band practice and mainly worked on three new songs, which I like a lot. Renee’s is sort of a disco love song, Xander’s is an eclectic pop/prog song and mine is sort of a quiet country song.

I’m strangely depressed that Bush was elected. I think that Kerry is as much of a phony, so I don’t understand why I care. I guess I like underdogs to win, if you can call another rich, white guy an underdog.

Well, I’m sitting around watching the director’s commentary for Spider Baby. I just finished grading some papers and getting by grade book in order, since 6-weeks grades are due this Friday. I’m also checking in on the election results and feeling detached, since I don’t really care who wins, since the person I voted for won’t.
