10/31/2003:
Happy Halloween!
10/29/2003:
I've been playing with my new (to me) computer.
10/19/2003:
My mom and brother came through town today and took Somer and me out to eat. It was tasty. I also watched two Jean-Luc Godard movies and enjoyed them. Oh yeah, yesterday I spent a few hours reading Jason Shiga’s interactive comic, Hello World. I think I solved it.
10/17/2003:
I watched Mononoke Hime again, this time with subtitles, thinking that I might actually like it. I didn’t think it was bad, but I didn’t like it.
Oh yeah, I finally got that kid to stop attacking me.
10/14/2003:
One of my students attacked me today. I wasn’t hurt, but it was really embarrassing, because it happened in the main hallway, and there were a bunch of students and teachers around.
10/13/2003:
I’m still a little sick, but I went to work today. I had trouble sleeping last night, so I was pretty tired, but it was a staff development day (no kids), so it was a nice low-key way to start the week.
I’m looking forward to hearing the Beatles’ Let It Be...Naked, although I think the title is horrible. Why don’t they call it Get Back like they had planned way back in 1969?
10/12/2003:
I’m still sick, but I’m going to try to go to work tomorrow, I think. Anyway, Renee and Xander came over today, and we worked on our songs some more. I think we’re going to call ourselves The Evildoers.
10/10/2003:
I'm still sick, but I think I'm starting to get better. Being sick is boring.
10/08/2003:
I'm still sick. Last night I kept hallucinating that my alarm clock was dancing on the living room coffee table, and a few minutes ago I threw up.
10/07/2003:
I didn’t go to work today. Instead, I went to the doctor, because I haven’t been able to sleep the past two nights, because I’ve been coughing so much. It’s either a cold or really bad allergies. I just have to ride it out, but now I have some industrial-strength meds to help me through it.
Since I was stuck at home, I had time to watch Let It Be. It’s sort of sad, but it made me happy. I love the Beatles (and early Black Sabbath—this has nothing to do with the Beatles, but I’m listening to Vol. 4 as I type this).
10/05/2003:
Friday night I hung out with my old friend Jennifer M. She took me out to eat, and then we just chilled at my place and caught up on what we’d been up to for the past four years or so. On Saturday Renee and Xander came over, and we worked on a few songs. The band is coming along pretty well, so far. I’m happy with it.
10/01/2003:
I almost died today. Some idiot driver decided to turn into oncoming traffic! Luckily the lane to my right was empty, so I just moved over, but if a car had been next to me, then I’d probably be dead or in the hospital right now. Other than that, my day was awesome (especially listening to Black Sabbath Vol. 4).
09/28/2003:
Xander and Renee came over today, and they seemed to get along, so hopefully we’ll start a band together. It will be awesome!
09/27/2003:
I’m trying to do a little songwriting and recording. It’s not going so well.
09/25/2003:
My workdays seem so long, and then the evenings just fly by.
09/15/2003:
I saw American Splendor yesterday. I really enjoyed it. It was awesome seeing all those comics that I love come to life on the screen. I also liked seeing the real Harvey Pekar and his pals in the movie. My only complaint is that I wish it had been twice as long. Hopefully the DVD will have a lot of extra footage.
09/09/2003:
I want to drop my class, but I’ll probably tough it out. It will be good for me in the long run.
09/07/2003:
I went to the Metroplex to get Somer (for real this time). She’s almost 100% again. I had fun playing with Shanie and Savannah, and Somer and I got to hang out with my dad. I took Somer out to brunch, and she took me out to dinner. Now were back in Austin, and I’m getting ready for work tomorrow. I’ve also got my first class at SWT tomorrow evening. I’m a little nervous.
09/01/2003:
Somer’s staying at her sister’s up in the Metroplex. I went up there yesterday to pick her up but stopped at my dad’s first only to find out that her sister was taking her to the hospital, so I headed out the door and drove over to the ER. It turned out she was dehydrated, so they gave her some fluids through an IV and discharged her. She’s supposed to stay in bed for the rest of the week.
Today was my dad’s birthday, so I hung out with him and had some barbecue. It was good.
